Beacon of Hope offers immediate crisis intervention services to clients who experience a mental or behavioral health crisis or emergency. The purpose of our crisis intervention services is to help our clients return to their level of functioning before the crisis or emergency. We are here for our clients, day or night, 24 hours, 7 days a week. We have a 24-hour crisis hotline, which we will confidentially support and assist you by listening to your concerns, problem solving, developing a crisis plan, scheduling appointments, and making appropriate referrals to help to manage your crisis.
A mental health crisis (non-threatening) or emergency (life-threatening) is when an individual is experiencing extreme distress, disoriented, out of touch with reality, or a harm to self or others.
Examples of a mental health crisis or emergency include:
- Suicidal thoughts, ideations, plans, behaviors, and intent
- Homicidal thoughts, ideations, plans, behaviors, and intent
- Alcohol or substance abuse or impairment
- Eating disorders
- Emergency medication management
- Community referrals, support, and outreach
- Highly erratic or unusual behavior
- Intense mood disturbances
What to do in a mental health crisis or emergency:
- If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please dial 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
- You can call our 24-hour crisis hotline, day or night, 24 hours, 7 days a week. Please call (410) 685-2830, press 5.
- You can call the statewide resource hotline, 211 and select option 1, for referrals and/or information for food, housing, healthcare, employment, mental health, substance misuse, legal, aging and disability, financial and utility assistance, and other community services.
