Personal Coaching

Beacon of Hope offers coaching services to individuals who are seeking clarity to help empower them to self-discovery, fulfilling their dreams, or acquiring diverse skill sets for continuing success as they embark a more enriching and satisfying life. Life coaching focuses on a healthy, motivated person’s present life, and desire for a fulfilling and rewarding future. A person may seek assistance with goal setting, life planning, professional/personal balance, and more. Coaching is a collaborative and supportive measure in which an individual has face-to-face sessions, telephone conversations, or video conference visits with his/her coach to discuss and share his/her needs, wants, dreams, and desired goals while following an action plan, and modifying it when necessary. The coach serves as an accountability partner to the client by holding him/her accountable for reaching his/her goals and living a balanced life. Coaching does not involve counseling, and is not covered by insurance.

If you, your child(ren), family member, or friend would like to start receiving personal coaching, please call us at (410) 685-2830.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is coaching, and is it the same as counseling?

Coaching is not the same as counseling. Counseling focuses on pathology; an individual’s past and present; trauma; emotional conflict; dysfunction; unresolved issues, and the healing process. In contrast, coaching assumes the individual is well, whole, and high functioning. It focuses on the present, future, and growth of an individual. Coaching focuses on a healthy, motivated person’s present life, and desire for a fulfilling and rewarding future.

What are the benefits of coaching?

A client receives services from an experienced and trained coach who works with the client to develop a structured plan of goals to achieve. The coach serves as an accountability partner who encourages and motivates clients.

How long are the coaching sessions?

Coaching sessions are for 60 minutes, which can be weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Coaching is a short-term service, in which some clients successfully complete by their sixth session, while some clients take a longer duration.

What about my privacy?

Your privacy matters to us. All of the information you share with your coach is confidential. You have to sign a release of information (ROI)/consent for your coach to disclose any protected information about you. During your first session, you will sign a contract that includes a ROI, which your coach will review with you, and answer all of your questions about the delivery of coaching services.

What is a video conference visit?

Video conference uses a live, secure, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) and Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) compliant web-based software to video conference coaching appointments. The real-time video conference system uses cameras and microphones to provide picture and audio, so clients feel like they are in the same room with the coach while being in the comfort of their own setting like home and office. Clients must have an Internet connection to utilize this type of service.

What device can I use during the video conferencing?

Clients can use a computer, laptop, smartphone, or tablet with WiFi access to connect to the video conferencing platform.

Is the video conferencing software safe and secure?

Yes. We use a video conferencing software that is HIPPA and HITECH compliant, and meets the practice guidelines of the American Telemedicine Association (ATA). We do not use FaceTime, Skype, or Google Duo.

Will my insurance pay for personal coaching?

No. We accept self-pay/private pay/out-of-pocket pay, which payment is due at the time of service.

How do I pay for coaching services?

Payment is expected at the time of each appointment. Please use our online client portal to make an online payment. Our client portal is safe and secure as it uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), an encryption protocol, to protect your payment information. You can make an online payment by check, credit card, or debit card. Payments are processed in real time or on the same day as you make the payment. If you make an online payment on Saturday or Sunday, your transaction is processed the following Monday.

We also accept office payments in the form of a certified check or money order. The certified bank check or money order should be made payable to Beacon of Hope. No personal checks or cash are accepted.
